Ernst im Ersten is an artistic and social experiment in collaboration with the actors and directors of Theater.doc, a critical documentary theater in Moscow engaged in human rights activism, that combines film, theater and television. Within the collaboration the actors - themselves participants in the current social processes in Russia - develop a performance on social and political topics in a talk show format and setting. Thereby we wanted to approach what, sadly, became a utopia in the last decade in Russia - freedom of the press and speech and equal access to the mass media and state television of all social groups and political opposition - and, by using theatrical and filmic means, to at least partially realise what became impossible in reality: a direct cultural and political dialogue between different social groups. The project is also an experiment in self-organisation within a theater-filmic laboratory process.

Ernst im Ersten ist ein künstlerisches und soziales Experiment in Zusammenarbeit mit den Schauspielerinnen und Regisseurinnen von Theater.doc, einem kritischen dokumentarischen Theater in Moskau, das sich im Bereich Menschenrechtsaktivismus engagiert und Film, Theater und Fernsehen verbindet.

Im Rahmen der Zusammenarbeit entwickeln die Schauspieler*innen – selbst Beteiligte an aktuellen gesellschaftlichen Prozessen in Russland – eine Performance zu sozialen und politischen Themen im Format und Setting einer Talkshow.

Damit wollten wir uns dem annähern, was im letzten Jahrzehnt in Russland leider zu einer Utopie geworden ist – Presse- und Meinungsfreiheit sowie gleicher Zugang zu Massenmedien und staatlichem Fernsehen für alle gesellschaftlichen Gruppen und politische Opposition – und mithilfe theatraler und filmischer Mittel zumindest teilweise realisieren, was in der Realität unmöglich geworden ist: ein direkter kultureller und politischer Dialog zwischen verschiedenen sozialen Gruppen.

Das Projekt ist zugleich ein Experiment der Selbstorganisation innerhalb eines theater-filmischen Laborprozesses.
